Veterinary Stem Cell Therapy-An Option for Pain Relief for Pets in
Southeastern Idaho

Stem Cell
Therapy used as an option for pain relief and healing for dogs, cats and horses.
At the Alpine Animal Hospital, we are dedicated to being leaders in the
veterinary profession. We are
now excited and proud to offer Stem Cell Therapy (Regenerative Medicine) to
our clients as an option for pain relief and healing for pets.
What is Stem Cell
Therapy?
Stem
cell and platelets are the body’s natural healing sources.
Regenerative medicine is a revolutionary approach to treating
injuries and disease as it helps restore the normal structure and mechanical
properties of the original tissue.
This helps us treat the problem, not just the symptoms.
Stem Cell Therapy promotes tissue healing through local secretion of
growth factors which recruit stem cells from other tissues to the affected
tissue to facilitate repair and healing.
The Stem Cells are not obtained from Embryonic Tissue but from
Adipose (fat) tissue from the animal that is being treated.
Stem Cells are highly anti-inflammatory by nature and migrate to areas of
inflammation, which substantially reduces pain.
Is my pet a candidate for
Stem Cell Therapy?
Your
pet may be a candidate for Stem Cell Therapy if they suffer from any of the
following conditions:
1.
Chronic Arthritis
2.
Joint Pain
3.
Cartilage damage
4.
Tendon and Ligament
Damage
5.
Hip Dysplasia
6.
A chronic illness that
has not responded to traditional treatments.
(Kidney, Liver, or Autoimmune diseases, Allergies)
What is involved in Stem
Cell Therapy?

Stem Cell Therapy can now
be performed right here in our hospital.
Your pet comes in for the procedure and is ready to go home that same
afternoon. We give your pet a
general anesthesia and make a small incision to obtain some adipose (fat
tissue) from either the abdomen or shoulder area.
We suture the incision and recover your pet.
While your pet is resting the tissue sample is then taken to our own
laboratory where it is put through a harvesting process so we can obtain the
Stem Cells. This process takes
about 2-3 hours. After the
harvest process is complete we lightly sedate your pet if needed and inject
these cells directly into the site of injury or disease. The Stem
Cells are also given intravenously so they can travel to all areas of
inflammation throughout the body.
Why Stem Cell Therapy?
Stem
Cell Therapy can greatly improve your pet’s quality of life.
It is all natural, we are using your own pet’s cells, so there is no
risk of rejection and very little risk of injection site reaction.
Stem Cell Therapy can help increase the range of motion in arthritic
or injured pets, and also decrease pain and inflammation.
In many cases, owners have been able to stop or reduce the use of
anti-inflammatory medications.
Owners generally report improvement in 3 days to 3 weeks and the effects
from a single treatment can last for 1 to 3 years.

would like additional information on Stem Cell Therapy, please call us today
